Twenty four new State Ministers and 17 new Cabinet ministers were sworn in before the President on earlier this week on Monday (18).

Four new state ministers have been sworn in before President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
Parliamentarian Suren Raghavan, who was previously appointed as the State Minister of Education Services and Reform, has now been appointed as the State Minister of Higher Education.
SLPP MP Sathasivam Viyalendiran has been appointed as the State Minister of Youth and Sports while MP Chandrakanthan has been appointed as the State Minister for Rural Road Development.
Further, ACMC’s Mohamed Muszhaaraff has been appointed as the State Minister of Textile Industries and Local Apparel Products Promotion.
The new additions increased the total number of new state ministers sworn to twenty-seven (27).
