Elpitiya bus owners protest CEYPETCO price hike

A strike launched by private bus owners and employees demanding an immediate bus fare hike consequent to the recent fuel price increase by CEYPETCO was staged near the Elpitiya main bus stand and at Elpitiya town at around 2:00 pm yesterday (19).

The strike was launched following the fuel price increase announced by CEYPETCO at 18 April midnight. Busses operating from the Elpitiya bus stand obstructed traffic on the Galle Road inconveniencing scores of commuters and schoolchildren.
