Amnesty International (AI) expressed concern for the reports of at least one death and more than 10 injured after police opened fire at protestors in Rambukkana yesterday (19).
"The authorities must always exercise restraint and use no more force than is strictly necessary, proportionate and lawful in response to any escalation they may face," the AI said in a tweet, adding that a prompt, impartial and effective inquiry with a view of holding perpetrators to account must be conducted.
